Established in 2023, Kesho Yangu Group in Kigugu Village consists of 19 members, including 3 men and 16 women, who are committed to improving their livelihoods through sustainable agriculture and collective enterprise.

Through the SUCODE Project implementedby SAT, the group received training in agroecological practices, equipping members with practical skills to improve crop production while conserving the environment. Alongside their farming activities, the group actively operates a SAT Saving and Lending Group (SSLG), enabling members to save regularly, access affordable loans, and invest in income-generating activities.

The group has also established a thriving tree nursery, producing a variety of seedlings including clove, cocoa, cinnamon, and other valuable tree species, contributing to environmental conservation and creating an additional source of income.

One of the group's most notable achievements is the successful management of a one-acre paddy farm, which produced more than36 bags of rice. The sales of the harvest generated income that enabled the group to accelerate the construction of a poultry house, marking an important step toward diversifying their livelihoods. The surplus earnings have also supported members with farm activities and enabled the group to rent an additional acre of land, expanding their rice production from one acre to two acres.

Today, Kesho Yangu Group stands as an inspiring example of how agroecological training, collective savings, and teamwork can strengthen resilience, increase household incomes, and create sustainable opportunities for rural communities.
